Kitchen Fire Suppression

According to national statistics over 50% of all restaurant fires originate from cooking equipment, due to the gases, flammable liquids and the major ignition sources present. That is why most insurance companies are now insisting on kitchen fire suppression.

Kitchen fire suppression systems are designed to protect a wide variety of kitchen appliances, such as ovens and deep fat fryers. The nozzles for the fire suppression system are installed in the kitchen hood exhaust, that way, the extinguishant can be discharged directly over the source of the fire. Once the system detects a fire, the nozzles above the appliances will discharge the extinguishant

The extinguishant is engineered to quickly put out fires by covering the flames and starving them of oxygen. As soon as the system trips, the main gas line to the appliances will also be immediately cut off, depriving the fire of fuel. This two-pronged approach quickly puts out a kitchen fire without affecting other cooking areas.

Sometimes the system provides fire dampers in the extract system to prevent the fire spreading to other parts of the building.
